The Day in View
Global Pattern Firefighters' Day · Sacrifice · Moving toward what others flee
Most of life is built on avoidance. Avoid discomfort. Avoid risk. Avoid anything that might cost too much.
But some people move in the opposite direction. Toward fire. Toward need. Toward the place where something is breaking. Like Moses moving towards the burning bush.
And every time they do, something is preserved that would have been lost.
The woman in Luke 7 moved toward what most people in that room were moving away from. She moved toward Jesus — across the judgement of the room, through the whispers. She moved toward the fire because she knew what was on the other side of it.

God who calls us forward, teach me when to stop avoiding and start moving toward what matters, even if it means a portion of me catching fire. Amen.
