Easter Monday
Thomas was not in the room when Jesus appeared. When the other disciples told him, he said: "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were — I will not believe."
Eight days later Jesus stood in the room and said to Thomas: "Put your finger here." He did not say: your doubt is unworthy of me. He said: here are my hands. Touch them.
The risen Christ kept his wounds. He chose to carry them into the resurrection. They are not evidence of defeat. They are evidence of what he came through.
The resurrection body of Jesus was not a replacement for the crucified body. It was the same body, transformed. The wounds remained. This means that what Jesus went through did not have to be hidden or erased in order for resurrection to occur.
Your wounds are not disqualifiers from transformation. They are, often, the precise evidence of what you have come through. The specific content of your testimony.
Thomas got to see and touch the wounds. And then he said: "My Lord and my God." The most complete confession of faith in the whole Gospel. It was the wounds that brought him there.

Risen Lord who kept Your wounds, I have tried to hide mine. But You carried them into glory. Teach me to wear what I have come through not as shame — but as evidence. My Lord and my God. In Your Name.
